Sheraton boardwalk in Waikiki Hawaii

If you’re looking to go walking in Waikiki to a spot with beautiful views, you can go to the Sheraton boardwalk! It’s an oceanfront path with amazing views of the shoreline and Diamond Head.

Yes, it’s the ocean side of a Sheraton hotel. But you don’t need to be staying at the Sheraton in order to walk it!

Now, you might not want to go out of your way JUST to walk the Sheraton boardwalk.

It really is a small little thing.

But if you’re in the area or you just want an excuse to walk somewhere with amazing views, you can make the Sheraton boardwalk a part of your walking route!

The boardwalk itself is quite short. I don’t think it will take you even one minute to walk from one end to the other. But the views from here will give you Hawaii vibes!

When you’re on the Sheraton boardwalk, you can get views of a palm tree, ocean waves crashing on the beach, and Diamond Head in the background! It really is picture-perfect Waikiki.

The beach itself is more like a tiny strip of sand. It’s not really anything notable since it’s not really for sitting or swimming, but it is picture-worthy!

This is also near the iconic Royal Hawaiian resort (aka the pink palace), so you can also make an excuse to see the beach side of the pink palace and the Sheraton boardwalk.

Note that there is more than one Sheraton hotel in Waikiki. There’s the Sheraton Waikiki resort (the one along the Sheraton boardwalk), as well as the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani that is a bit inland.

WHERE TO STAY IN WAIKIKI > BEACHFRONT HOTELS

 

 

The Sheraton boardwalk feels like a hidden path. Although it’s really a path to nowhere, since the one side of it is usually (always?) closed! (It’s closed because of erosion issues, I believe.)

Unless you are staying at the Sheraton, in which case, it may be your regular walking route to get to the beach so it is a path to somewhere!

Since the boardwalk is right near oceanfront resorts, it’s not really a spot that the general public would naturally go to. This makes it a quieter spot.

The Sheraton boardwalk is marked on google maps (map), and I think the best way to get there is to walk the Waikiki surfboard alley, which is another iconic spot to see! This is right off of Kalakaua Avenue which is a main road in Waikiki (map).

 

👆 Spot Diamond Head! You can get an amazing view of Diamond Head from the Sheraton boardwalk!

 

It’s a short walk down the alley, and then you’ll reach the beach. You’ll turn right and start walking on the beach! You’ll see the pink palace up close!

Keep walking a couple of minutes and you will see the paved walking path that is the Sheraton boardwalk. You can walk to the end of the boardwalk. If you walk further you will be walking through the Sheraton resort.

Turn around and walk back, and that’s when you’ll be walking with views of Diamond Head seemingly right in front of you!

You can walk back the same way you came (through the alley), or you can walk the beach instead!

If you walk the beach, you’ll end up walking past the Moana Surfrider resort (and you’ll get a glimpse of the Moana courtyard where there’s a banyan tree), and further will take you to Kuhio Beach and the iconic surfer statue. You’ll end up back on Kalakaua Avenue.

Quick travel tips when you’re OFF TO WAIKIKI!

Walk the Sheraton boardwalk!

Here’s your walking route:

• Start from the International Market Place on Kalakaua Avenue (map)
• Walk the Waikiki surfboard alley to the beach
• Turn right. You’ll see the pink palace from the beach!
• Keep walking the beach and it’s the Sheraton boardwalk!
• Once you read the end of the boardwalk, turn around and you’ll see Diamond Head straight ahead!
• Keep walking along the beach
• Stop in front of the Moana Surfrider resort to look at the banyan tree there. You can see it from the beach.
• Walk to Kuhio Beach (and the iconic Duke Kahanamoku Statue) and you can end up back on Kalakaua Avenue!

Before you start your walk to the Sheraton boardwalk, go inside the International Market Place. You will see a massive banyan tree! You can also walk more to look for the ALOHA sign (I saw it on the ground floor) and the WAIKIKI sign (I saw it on the second floor in front of the Mitsuwa Japanese grocery store)!
