ALOHA!
Below I have for you an interactive map of free hula shows.
There are 4 free hula shows in Waikiki, which are at Kuhio Beach, the International Market Place, the Royal Hawaiian Center, and the Waikiki Beach Walk. These all take place in the evening. Most of the hula shows in Waikiki last for an hour. There is also a free hula show in Ala Moana, which is just outside of Waikiki.
The free hula shows are in public spaces and you can just show up. You don’t need to make reservations or anything like that. Most seating is on the ground. There isn’t any formal seating arrangement.
In the days leading up to the hula show, it’s a good idea to confirm that it’s happening. I’ve arrived at a couple of hula shows to find out that they were canceled.
Now first, I want to let you know what’s on the map!

Free hula shows
Kuhio Beach hula show
- Location: Kuhio Beach banyan tree near Duke Kahanamoku Statue (map)
- Usually Tuesday and Saturday at 6:30p for 1 hour
- Confirm current schedule

π Kuhio Beach in the evening
If you are going to go to just one free hula show, make it the Kuhio Beach hula show!Β This is completely outside and beachfront, so you can watch the sunset on the beach as you wait for the show to begin!
It’s at the Kuhio Beach banyan tree, which is a minute by foot from the Duke Kahanamoku Statue in the direction of Diamond Head.
After the hula show is over, take a walk on Waikiki Beach to see the Moana banyan tree lit up!
International Market Place hula show
- Name: O Na Lani sunset hula show
- Location: Queens Court at International Market Place (map)
- Usually Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 6pm for 1 hour
- Confirm current schedule

π Queens Court at International Market Place
This hula show takes place at the open-air shopping mall called the International Market Place located in central Waikiki. If you’re staying near the Moana Surfrider or Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, you’ll be right nearby.
Walking into the International Market Place from Kalakaua Avenue, you’ll be able to see the massive banyan tree and go up to the treehouse on your way to Queens Court (and the Queen Emma statue!) where the hula show takes place.
The Queens Court is also where the (paid) Queen’s luau takes place.
Royal Hawaiian Center hula show
- Name: Kawika Trask Trio Performance and Pu’uhonua Trio Performance
- Location: Royal Grove at Royal Hawaiian Center (map)
- Usually Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:30pm for 1 hour
- Confirm current schedule

π Royal Grove at Royal Hawaiian Center
The Royal Hawaiian Center is another open-air shopping center located in central Waikiki near the Royal Hawaiian Resort and the Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort.
To get to the Royal Grove, you’ll walk through an open outdoor area off of Kalakaua Avenue (where Seaside Ave intersects) and there is a wooden stage where the hula show takes place.
The Royal Hawaiian Center also offers free Hawaiian cultural classes to the public. Class sizes are limited and there’s no signing up in advance, so it’s best to show up early just in case.
If you’re in the area, you can stop by the Helumoa Hale guest services desk across from the Royal Grove to confirm the show is still on for that week, and to ask about current recommendations for how early to show up to the free classes.
There is also a (paid) rock-a-hula show high energy performance that’s put on at the Royal Hawaiian Theater.
Waikiki Beach Walk hula show
- Name: Ku Ha’aheo
- Location: Waikiki Beach Walk plaza (map)
- Usually Tuesday at 4:30pm for 1.5 hours
- Confirm current schedule
The Waikiki Beach Walk is also a shopping area, and the hula show takes place outside at the plaza. This is located towards Fort DeRussy Beach Park near the Outrigger Reef resort (which is one of the best spots to watch the Friday night fireworks).
Ala Moana Center hula show (just outside Waikiki)
- Location: Centerstage at Ala Moana Center (map)
- Usually every day at 5pm for 20 minutes
- Confirm current schedule
Ala Moana is a neighorhood located just outside of Waikiki on the Hilton Hawaiian Village and Fort DeRussy Beach side, with the Ala Moana Center being an open-air shopping mall. It’s about a 30 minute walk from the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

The magenta pinΒ is the rock-a-hula show. If you’re interested in hula shows (Hawaiian culture!), then you also may like going to a luau (more Hawaiian culture!), and those are gold pins. If you are having problems viewing or using the map, you can view it directly on google maps.
