Where to watch Friday night fireworks in Waikiki Hawaii

The Friday night fireworks in Waikiki are launched right by the Hilton Hawaiian Village resort area. You can see them from several beaches in Waikiki, but being closer to the the Hilton Hawaiian Village will get you better views!

The Duke Kahanamoku Beach is right in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, so this is the beach to go to for the most up-close and personal views. This is a public beach, so you can go here even if you’re not staying at the resort.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village beach isn’t the only place you can get a good view of the fireworks. Watching the fireworks from Fort DeRussy Beach can be perfect. This is the next beach over, so you still get a really good view, and it’s my favorite spot!

Beyond these beaches, there are some areas of beach in Waikiki that you can’t see the fireworks at all because of the way the shoreline curves. The beachfront hotels and high-rise buildings block the view.

It is possible to get a distant view of the fireworks from Kuhio Beach near the Waikiki Wall and from Queens Beach near Barefoot Beach Cafe.

I’ve been to these parts of Waikiki to watch the fireworks, so I have pictures below!

There are bus stops throughout Waikiki so you can take a bus to closer to any of these watch spots if you’re not staying nearby.

It is completely free to watch the Friday night fireworks from any of the beaches in Waikiki. It starts at 7:45pm or 8pm depending on the time of year. The fireworks show lasts for 5 minutes. You’ll want to get to your watch spot early so you can settle in and be comfortable once the fireworks start!

There are also Friday night sunset cruises that give you a fun view of the fireworks from the ocean.

For one of the best spots to watch the Friday night fireworks, head to Fort DeRussy Beach and you’ll get a pretty great view!

Bring a towel or beach mat and find a spot on the beach right off the Fort DeRussy boardwalk near the rock jetty, and you will get an amazing view of the fireworks.

How to get there:
– Start at Kalia Rd and Saratoga Rd (map) near Ka La’i Waikiki Beach hotel. There’s a pedestrian walkway here that leads straight to the area of the beach you want to be. 3 minute walk.
– Start at Kalakaua Ave and Olohana St (map) near Luana Waikiki Hotel. Then walk through Ainahau Triangle and Fort DeRussy Beach Park to get to the boardwalk, and then continue on to get near the rock jetty. 12 minute walk.

 

 

It is possible to watch the fireworks from Kuhio Beach, but you can’t see them from all areas.

You’ll want to head towards the Waikiki Wall side of Kuhio Beach.

You can sit on the beach there, or you can walk out onto the Waikiki Wall itself which is a walkway that juts out into the ocean.

It’s a distant view, but you can see them quite clearly. So if you’re staying on the Kuhio Beach side of Waikiki and don’t want to go far, this can be a nice spot to watch the fireworks.

 

👆 You can sit on the beach at Kuhio Beach and see the fireworks. You want to make sure you’re on the Waikiki Wall end of the beach.

Location: Along Kalakaua Avenue at Kapahulu Ave (map)

How to get there: The Waikiki Wall is right off the sidewalk so you’ll see it as soon as you are in the area!

 

 

It is also possible to watch the fireworks from Queens Beach.

This is even further down the Waikiki shoreline from the Hilton Hawaiian Village so again it’s a distant view.

The fireworks can be seen across the water completely unobstructed, so as long as you don’t mind that it’s a bit far, it can be a nice view.

You can sit on the beach towards the Queens Walkway end of Queens Beach, or stand along the coastal pathway near Barefoot Beach Cafe.

👆 You can walk a little further down and you can also see the fireworks from the coastal path that’s directly along the ocean.

 

Queens Beach fireworks watch spot: Near Queens Walkway or Barefoot Beach Cafe

Location: Southern end of Queens Beach where the sidewalk is along the ocean (map)
Look for Barefoot Beach Cafe or Queens Walkway on google maps

How to get there: Once you’re at Queens Beach, keep walking along the pedestrian walkway. This turns into a path directly along the ocean that will take you to the Queens Walkway!
