ALOHA!
Seeing the banyan tree at the Moana Surfrider just feels different at night, and I think it’s best seen directly from the beach!
You can walk along Waikiki Beach to see the banyan tree lit up in different colors so it makes for a fun part of an evening walk on the beach.
Once the lights come on, the banyan tree takes on a different look, being lit up in a way that allows you to see the different parts of the tree and its unique shape and structure.
The banyan tree is a part of the banyan courtyard at the Moana Surfrider resort, and it’s one of the easiest places to stop along Waikiki Beach at night.
I have a short walking route below that you can do on Waikiki Beach at night!

Stop #1: Moana banyan courtyard (from the beach)

π Walk along the beach until you get to the Moana Surfrider. You’ll know when you’re there because you’ll see the tree lit up in the banyan courtyard! You can see it well from the beach.

Stop #2: Royal Hawaiian (from the beach)

π You can keep walking along the beach. You’ll know when you see the Mai Tai Beach Bar because it’s lit up in pink! (Or looking pink-ish.) This is part of the Royal Hawaiian resort, the iconic pink palace hotel of Waikiki.
Stop #3: Waikiki Beach shoreline view

π Turn around and look back toward the Moana Surfrider where you came from, and you’ll see colors lighting up the beach where the Moana banyan tree stands!
