The Prince Kuhio Statue at Kuhio Beach in Waikiki honors the Hawaiian royal prince who has left a significant lasting legacy for Hawaii. Prince Kuhio is remembered for working to support Hawaiian communities and protect Hawaii’s natural lands. He had a crucial role in establishing national park lands in Hawaii that are now known as Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Haleakala National Park. Born on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, he spent his final years in Waikiki.
His name can be seen around Waikiki, including at Kuhio Beach, Kuhio Avenue, the Kuhio Banyan Club hotel, and the Royal Kuhio condo.
The statue of Prince Jonah KΕ«hiΕ Kalanianaβole is located along the sidewalk of Kalakaua Avenue, and it can be a quick stop to see.

Location: Along the sidewalk on Kalakaua Avenue between Kealohilani Ave and Ohua Ave (map)

Waikiki walking route
Start your walk with the Prince Kuhio statue or a few minutes away at the iconic Duke Kahanamoku Statue, another tribute to someone who has a lasting legacy in Hawaii. Then, continue along Kuhio Beach on the sidewalk to the Waikiki Wall!
Prince Kuhio is one of the 3 Hawaiian princes credited with first introducing surfing to California, and later Duke Kahanamoku is credited with popularizing it in Southern California!

Stop 2: Walkway at lifeguard tower 2DP
π Right behind the Prince Kuhio statue towards the ocean is lifeguard tower 2DP.
π Right next to the lifeguard tower is a little walkway that juts out into the ocean where you can walk out for views!
Stop 3: Makua and Kila statue
π The Makua and Kila statue is a surfer and seal statue that’s a 3 minute walk down the sidewalk from Prince Kuhio statue. Right next to this is the Waikiki Wall.
Stop 4: Waikiki Wall
π The Waikiki Wall is a 3 minute walk away from the Prince Kuhio statue, and it’s another walkway that juts out into the ocean for amazing views! This also marks the end of Kuhio Beach, and on the other side of the seawall is Queens Beach. You can continue your walk that way to the Surfer on a Wave statue and the Queens Walkway!
